Cognitive-Emotional Behavior Modification Therapy

Understanding cognitive-emotional evolution: For humanity to have survived the evolutionary mill….

1a) Emotional good-feelings must correlate with a strong, empowered, and balanced neurological, biochemical, physiological genetic construct conducive to health, well-being, critical analysis, and successful decision-making prowess.

1b) Emotional bad-feelings must correlate with a weak, dis-empowered, and unbalanced neurological, biochemical, physiological genetic construct vulnerable to illness, accidents, injury, and poor decision-making prowess.

2a) Emotional good-feelings must correlate with a cognitive dwelling and focus upon what is wanted, desired, and intended within one’s own life experience.

2b) Emotional bad-feelings must correlate with a cognitive dwelling and focus upon what is NOT wanted, desired, and intended within one’s own life experience.

A very important THEREFORE:

Psychological depression is not a mood disorder but a natural evolved order of genetic behavior! Depression and it’s neurological, biochemical, and physiological genetic constructs are supposed to exist when a person’s cognitive activities are dwelling and focused upon what is not wanted, desired, nor intended within one’s own life’s experience.

The longer and more intensely a person cognitively dwells and focuses upon what is not wanted and ignores, suppresses, or camouflages (with drugs and medications) their emotional bad-feelings, the more severe, abnormal, and imbalanced their neurology, biochemistry, and physiology and resulting behavior become resulting in other disorders such as major depressive disorder (MDD), psychotic mania, and even schizophrenic tendencies.

Emotions have evolved to guide cognitive behavior away from an unhealthy, emotionally bad-feeling  physiology when focused and dwelling upon what is not wanted and towards a healthy, emotionally good-feeling, empowered, and balanced physiology when dwelling and focused upon what is wanted, desired, and intended.

Cognitive-emotional behavior modification therapy teaches a student the evolutionary meaning of emotional awareness (vs. today’s “science” of emotional behavior and control based in a 3000-year-old language and literary linguistics) and how to use their emotional awareness to guide their mental activities (and resulting thoughts, memories, beliefs, imaginings, perceptions, and reasoning) towards a healthy, empowered, and balanced physiology conducive to critical analysis and successful decision-making prowess.  Pharmaceutical therapies should act as a temporary crutch and their intrusion be reduced as cognitive self-control based on emotional awareness increases. But as in a severely burnt hand, therapeutic intervention may be life long.

Emotions have not evolved to be controlled by cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) or to be controlled by any psychological or pharmaceutical therapy:

What is a person observing when the sun rises in the east, moves across the sky, and sets in the west? The sun is not “moving”, the earth is rotating. What is a person witnessing when a character in a rage, aggressively attacks his oppressor? For 3000 years, since Homer’s “Iliad” humanity has been driven by their emotions. And, dangerous emotions, must be controlled, even with pharmaceuticals, because dangerous emotions can drive destructive behavior. But, might we be observing the sun “moving” or is the earth “rotating”?

Missing from 3000-years of carefully crafted logic, reasoning, and emotional conceptual understandings and definition are our modern, scientific conceptual developments of:

  • Changes and states of neurological, biochemical, and physiological being in the brain and body as fundamental to body movement and emotional awareness.

  • The neuroplastic brain as a highly intricate and advanced biological neural networking processor that orchestrates change and states of neurology, biochemistry, and physiology.

  • Evolutionary survival of the fittest eliminating weak biological neural networking vulnerable to injury, disease, and poor decision-making and reinforcing strong and powerful biological neural networking conducive to health, well-being, and success.

Mental, physical, and emotional health and well-being is dependent on the symbiotic harmony between mind, body, emotions, and conscious awareness. Today’s erroneous psychology of emotional control camouflages emotional awareness! How can emotions maintain their evolutionary role in today”s 3000-year-old language and literary linguistics of emotional control, regulation, and management?

Cognition, not emotion precipitates the neurological, biochemical, and physiological changes and states of being that drive behavior. Emotions are the perception of these changes and states of physiology.

The Dangers and Hazards of Today’s Psychological and Pharmaceutical Therapies: A YouTube Presentation 2023-06-20

Current academic psychology and sports psychology is an erroneous adaptation of Homer’s 3000-year-old linguistics of emotional driven behavior where cognitive behavior modification therapies (and pharmaceuticals) are used to control aberrant, dangerous, and dysfunctional emotional behavior because emotions are (incorrectly) deemed causal to driving destructive behavior. In other words, academia (inaccurately) understands depression as a mood disorder.

Cognition, not emotion precipitates the neurological, biochemical, and physiological changes and states of being that drive behavior. Emotions are the perception of these changes and states of physiology.

Within symbiotic psychology emotions cannot be aberrant and destructive because cognition, not emotion, precipitates the changes and states of biochemical and neurological physiology that drives behavior. Emotions are the perception of these changes and states of physiology. Emotions have evolved, not to be controlled by mind as professed by our Ancient Greek Philosophers, but to guide negative and bad feeling dysfunctional cognitive behavior towards  positive and good-feeling and functional cognitive behavior that signify health, well-being, and successful decision-making prowess. In other words, depression is a cognitive disorder.

Positive, good feeling emotions, moods, attitudes, and feelings have an evolved correlation with health, well-being, and successful decision-making prowess (and their actualization).  Negative, bad feeling emotions, moods, attitudes, and feelings have an evolved correlation with their negation. If this were not so, humanity would not have survived the evolutionary grindstone to pass on their genes to the next generation.

Dwelling upon that which you do not want, desire, and intend generates negative, bad-feeling emotions, moods, attitudes, and feelings that have an evolved correlation with an unhealthy and depressed physiology. Dwelling upon that which you do want, desire, and intend generates positive and empowered good-feeling emotions, moods, attitudes, and feelings that are indicative of the health, well-being, and successful decision-making prowess needed to thrive within the evolutionary mill.

When pharmaceutical therapies are deemed necessary, they must be accompanied with some sort of cognitive behavior modification therapy to re-process, re-structure, and re-construct those activities of the mind (such as thoughts, memories, imaginings, perceptions, and reasoning) that are precipitating the biochemical and neurological physiology of depression.

Preschool, primary, and secondary educators are indoctrinating our children with the erroneous linguistics of emotionally driven behavior first inscribed within Homer’s “Iliad” nearly 3000 years-ago and which current academia adopted and continues to profess in its flawed cognitive behavior modification therapies designed to control, regulate, and manage, emotional behavior.

Cognitive-emotional development within an individual is a process of learning, practicing, and utilizing a variety of cognitive-emotional re-processing techniques to where positive good-feeling emotions, moods, and feelings accentuate physical expression and behavior.
